The eve of Adam?

Sorry, couldn’t resist some kind of pun in that line.

So despite the fact I lived like the Kings do in the 100-level the last 3 games, the topic is our (former and hopefully future) 1st baseman Adam Lind. For those of you that don’t know (and let’s face it, all six of you reading this probably do), Adam Lind was sent down to AAA Vegas by the Jays yesterday morning. A bit of a shocker for sure. First of all, I didn’t even know Lind had an option left to be sent down. Another blog pointed out that in mid-June he would’ve had enough ML service to prevent the team from sending him to the minors ever again.

But it seemed warranted. I’m not sure how long this topsy-turvy AL East world is going to last this season, but right now it seems that the division is ripe for the taking. Or at least, the Jays could contend for that 2nd Wild Card berth. With that in mind, we couldn’t have a huge hole in the lineup. We already have Jose scuffling (although the last few games have been very good for him), JP hoping to turn things around, and Colby Rasmus not doing much either. Given the expectations for Lind, what else could they do? Sit him down and have him rot on the bench? Nope. They had to send him down. Let him play every day, clear his head.

Hopefully he does come around. I’m not sure what Chad Mottola, the 51′s hitting coach can do for him but even if he doesn’t make it back to Toronto, as someone pointed out on the radio (maybe Zaun?), there are 29 major league  hitting coaches that would love the opportunity to straighten out Adam Lind’s swing in the same way that the Jays wanted Rasmus.

Hope we see you soon Adam. The lineup seems strange without you. Get well soon.
